KUBO, the cultural and community space in Aarau, has been without a home since July 2025. The temporary lease ended, and the search for a new location has proven to be extremely difficult. That's why your support is urgently needed!

KUBO is a project designed to be as accessible and participatory as possible. To ensure that culture and social participation are available even to people on a tight budget, everyone involved with KUBO works on a completely unpaid, volunteer basis. This is the only way the pay-what-you-can principle for events can work, and how other areas like the workshop, kitchen, sports area, studio, cinema, reading corner, and the free shop could remain open and available for everyone to use.

However, for us to have a space for our offerings again, KUBO depends on long-term support. Applying for foundation grants or public funding is not only a recurring bureaucratic nightmare with an absurd amount of work, but it also jeopardizes KUBO's independence and the way it operates. Nevertheless, we are currently forced to seek foundation funding for a new space to give the project a fresh start.

In the future, however, this project should be supported as broadly as possible—by the community that uses KUBO's diverse offerings and opportunities, or simply shares its ideals. In the past, we deliberately decided against a membership fee for the KUBO community space, and we want to keep it that way.

Still, this is an appeal to all users, visitors, allies, and friends to regularly chip in a small amount and set up a monthly standing order. This is the only way to ensure the planning security that will ultimately enable KUBO's sustainable and long-term existence.

As with all other aspects, we rely on personal responsibility, and everyone should contribute as much as they can. Even small monthly contributions are enormously important to keep KUBO running in the way we all appreciate and love.

2.- = the broken glass for the syrup can be replaced
5.- = finally, new blades for the jigsaw
10.- = replacement for the XLR cable the band accidentally packed up
15.- = there's new solder to repair broken cables ourselves
20.- = covers the fuel costs for a local band
50.- = these transport costs might even be enough for a national act
100.- = food and lodging for a band that is performing without a fee
200.- = hopefully that's enough for electricity, water, and heating
500.- = a repair can be done by a professional, nobody gets hurt
1000.- = no stress about having to organize a financially successful party, leaving energy and time for other things
